Portland Metro Scholastic Art Awards

Reception - Exhibition - Ceremony


If you have a student/child whose school is in Clackamas, Multnomah or Washington counties this information is for you.  Human error happens, our apologies if you are receiving this email and your school is not in one of these counties.

1. Reception - Anyone who participated in the Oregon Scholastic Art Awards is welcome to the reception. The reception for the Portland Metro Scholastic Art Awards is on First Thursday, February 1st, 2018 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Pacific Northwest College of Art. 511 NW Broadway

2. Exhibition - ONLY Gold Key individual artwork and Gold Key portfolio artwork will be on display at the exhibition. However, anyone can come and see the artwork in the exhibition! The exhibition runs January 28th - February 23rdat the Pacific Northwest College of Art, 511 NW Broadway.  Days and hours of the exhibition will follow days and hours of operation at PNCA.

3. Ceremony - The Portland Metro Art Awards Ceremony is for ALL honorable mention, silver key and gold key awardees.  
The ceremony will be held on Thursday, February 15th 7:00 pm.
Rolling HIlls Auditorium located at 3550 SW Borland Rd, Tualatin

No tickets required, 2,500 seats in the auditorium.
1,500 free parking spots

A New SCHOOL YEAR!


Reaching into a new year of visual art making.
Lets collaborate on projects and ideas and get going
with all of that fun from summer to pour out and into our
work!  WE are going to use google classroom!!!
WE are going on a museum field trip!!!!

Snow Days, Scholastic Art Awards and end of Semester

DUE TO ALL OF THE  SNOW DAYS

Scholastic Art Awards has smartly and thankfully extended the deadline to upload artwork until
FRIDAY JANUARY 20th 2017

For Lincoln students ALL WORK must be submitted with a signed form and paid submission by school on Friday.   Here is the link to upload   https://www.artandwriting.org/Login

and follow instructions for printing and getting signed by family. Checks made out to Lincoln HS or cash. $5 per artwork and $20 per portfolio. 

Turn in to your teacher you put down on the form.

END OF THE SEMESTER IB WORK:
- The PP has been graded, feedback will be coming
- The CS is being graded and feedback will be shared next class
- The Exhibition and its text will be reviewed next class, please be prepared to share the presentation

MAKE UP: 
 I will have meetings with students who are struggling on an individual basis during class on Friday and at our earliest convenience when we return to school.

2016 IB VISUAL ART SHOW



Congratulations on an amazingly successful show!

Feel free to utilize your own (better) images.  You are allowed 2 images per artist.
It is required for all students to submit images of their exhibition.

These should be of the highest quality possible but less than 5MB and saved as a .jpg or .tiff file.
PLEASE re-name them   <lastname.first.2016.exhibition1(or 2).jpg>    and email to me by the end of the day Monday, April 11th.

First Week (AND LOTS OF WORK) DONE!!

We have (should have) done lots of investigating so far.  
  • You should have a Visual Arts Journal (maybe VJ?) and be working in it!! 
  • You should have your materials, (some to bring around with you and some to stay at home)
  • You should have emailed me! I will email you
  • You should have begun your INTRO TO THE VaJ (several pages so far!)
  • You should have turned in all of your signed forms
  • You should have seen some artwork IN PERSON (ffttnw?) and reflected
  • You MUST print out the SEPTEMBER CALENDAR
  • You MUST begin thinking about an artwork and incorporate your AESTHETIC (and the concept of IDENTITY)
